We did our first hive inspection of 2012 today and were excited to find that the bees are doing very well.  We had better than 85% survival at Cross Plains and 100% at our Coloma, WI location.  There's still a lot of winter left but the bees look like they're generally in pretty good shape.  I'm looking forward to going into spring with some strong hives to take advantage of the early nectarflows.
We also ordered 15 new packages of bees for this year.  This will be the most hives we've ever managed but we're looking forward to expanding into at least one new location and trying some new things as we continue to grow.
Stay tuned for more hive updates as we get closer to the start of the main beekeeping season!
