As we approach the Thanksgiving and Christmas seasons, take a moment to give a hand to people less fortunate around the world. This year, World Vision, has given you the opportunity to provide a beehive and training to a family. As our very small way of saying "Thank You", you'll receive a free 1# jar of Golden Hills Honey if you send us a copy of your donation receipt showing that you gave a beehive! (While supplies last, Wisconsin residents only.)
You can mail a copy of your receipt to: Golden Hills Honey, 13925 Waynescott Rd, Brookfield, WI  53005
or email an electronic version to: matthew@goldenhillshoney.com
Thanks for being part of something special with us!

This landed in my email today -- the first snowy day in Madison -- and it sounded so delicious and easy that I wanted to share it with you.  You can find the original recipe from the National Honey Board here.

Hot Honey Cider

Makes 16-18 servings

  • 1 gallon fresh apple cider
  • 1 cup honey
  • 1/2 cup orange juice
  • Juice of 1/2 lemon
  • 6 to 7 cinnamon sticks
  • 1 Tablespoon whole cloves
  • 1/2 teaspoon allspice
  • 1 apple
  • 1 orange
  • 1 cup dark rum, optional
Add cider, honey, orange juice, lemon juice, cinnamon sticks, cloves and allspice to a 2-gallon pot. Simmer on medium-low heat for 1 hour. Slice apple and orange into about 6 slices each, leaving the core and peels, and add to pot. Add rum. Serve warm.
