We were on the road to the beeyards by 5am, ready to move several hives from pollinating pumpkins out to another yard for the winter. We finished up our second round of fall medication and drilled upper entrances for the bees.
After a long few weeks of harvesting, extracting, and relocating hives, it was nice to take the afternoon off and relax with a refreshing honey cocktail. Here's our recipe for honey gin lemonade - tart, refreshing, and delicious. Enjoy!
Honey Gin Lemonade
2 Tbs HONEY
2 Tbs warm water
1 Tbs lemon juice
1..5 oz gin
Add honey and water to a cocktail shaker and stir to dissolve the honey. Add lemon juice and gin and fill shaker halfway with ice. Shake vigorously to combine and strain into a cocktail glass. Top with a splash of club soda.
Cook's Notes: Interested in a different variation? Try garnishing with fresh berries or mint leaves. Or, feel free to substitute the club soda for a splash of your favorite white wine. We like to use the Prairie Fume from Wollersheim Winery.
